Screenshot About:
Mutt is a small but very powerful text-based MIME mail client. It is highly configurable, and is well-suited to the mail power user with advanced features like key bindings, keyboard macros, mail threading, regular expression searches, and a powerful pattern matching language for selecting groups of messages.

Release focus: Minor feature enhancements

Changes:
User-defined variables are now completely supported. Header caching for MH folders, header/body caching for POP folders, and a QDBM backend for header caching were added. The IMAP backend was enhanced with support for 'old' flags, IMAP-IDLE, SASL-IR, and pipeline-based communication. The ability to pattern-match complete threads was added. Pattern-group support was added. Attachment counting was implemented. Large file support was completed. Irish and Basque translations were added.

[»] docs and samples
by Michael Shigorin - Apr 10th 2005 06:18:55

BTW, the Mutt FAQ is very useful to read *before* looking at Mutt itself. (we host Russian translation).

And when someone's in progress of hammering his (or even her) own config file to personal taste and habit samples of already existing configuration are available at dotfiles.com. Worth looking at, must admit.

Good luck, and if you're tired with e-mail, a couple of days to get used to mutt and make it fit you will pay back quite quickly -- I'd estimate less than two weeks of accomodation time (being ex-Pine user).

mutt is the king of unix MUAs. I recommend reading the muttrc manpage immediately from top to bottom and crafting the perfect .muttrc file for your needs.
