great work
by Shawn K. Quinn - Apr 19th 2005 05:52:36
I like this program a lot. I used KMail and KDE for the better part of two
years, and made the switch to Evolution at the same time I switched
environments to GNOME. I haven't regretted it at all, especially now that I
know everything it's capable of. Well done!

Version 1.4 was much better... :-(
by F Cardone - Sep 21st 2004 07:35:34
Hello -
This is also a program I love(d) - there was really no other mail client
to compare with it: it had a nice summary page where you could see news,
weather conditions and of course if there was any new mail. In 2.0.0. they
decided to kill this, and now it's a "regular" e-mail client -
doesn't look much different from the others. Fortunately, I was able to
uninstall the new version (hint: choose to keep the old data) and to go
back to 1.4
Still, it's a shame.

Yep, 1.4 was much nicer. I think you can blame Novell for version 2?
So how do I uninstall V2 without losing the data?

Where's their bugzilla currently? I couldn't find it on the product page on
Novell's website.

No Folder Displayed
by rudedog - Jan 17th 2004 03:42:27
This, and the fact that the 'automatic install' rolls merrily along until
it blows up leaving my entire system in a very hosed state, places this
software firmly in the catagory of crapola-ware. Ain't 'proprietary
open-sores' great?
Sorry I ever strayed Sylpheed. Please take me back!

the mandrake 9.1 distro includes 1.2.2
by be - May 22nd 2003 02:45:09
which has a couple of problems with the calendar and text editor (message)
modules crashing occasionally, but the most frustrating thing is after
creating contact lists any messages composed using a contact list in the to
field wont be sent unless you deselect the contact list and individually
select the recipients. :) and then reporting a bug doesnt work because a
normal install of mandrake doesnt install bug-buddy! That aside its looks
good, supports newsfeeds from important places like Freshmeat &
slashdot, hmm well there's another nuisance you cant invite a contact
list/group to a meeting....

Mirrors
by deuterium - Jan 13th 2002 07:50:09
I love this program :)
I'm using it since version 0.11 or something.
Everytime there's a new release, the ftp server is full.
Can't you add some mirror urls?

Only thing I don't like about it is the fact it can't read outlook express
mailboxes. When is this feature going to be added?

I guess that the same day microsoft documents the "sane" format of their
mailboxes....

Well it is possible, first import them in your Mozilla (Windows Version)
Mail client. Then copy the new MBOX file with the emails to your linux
partition and import them into Evolution... worked for me!
