Screenshot About:
GKrellM is a GTK-based stacked monitor program that charts SMP CPUs, disks, load, active net interfaces, and internet connections. There are also builtin monitors for memory and swap, file systems with mount/umount feature, mailbox checking including POP3 and IMAP, clock/calendar, laptop battery, sensors (temperatures, voltages, and fans), and uptime. It has LEDs for the net monitors and an on/off button and online timer for PPP. There is a GUI popup for configuration, plugin extensions can be installed, and many themes are available. It also features a client/server monitoring capability.

[»] Great little app
by Pascal - Jan 23rd 2005 14:47:33

Great little tool for my desktop. installed it on a Redhat enterprise 3 with no issue whatsoever.
I was using kbmon before which doesn't seem to be supported on later version of redhat with newer QT libraries.
gkrellm was litterally brainless to install . Thanks to the author.

what an awesome little program. I had no clue how I ever made it without it in the corner of my desktop.

I used to get along with a bunch of little applets, but really treasure this little app! This is a must!

[»] Client-server GkRellm?
by Adrian - Oct 30th 2001 08:00:09

To make monitoring of several remote hosts easier
on network traffic, would it be possible to split
Gkrellm into a client and server? At the moment, if
you want to monitor a remote host, you have to
export the display to your workstation and run
Gkrellm on the remote host. This generates a lot of
X-Window traffic.

If the Gkrellm monitoring process (which gathers the
information to display) could run on the remote node
as a daemon and just send the raw data to the
display node, this would be more efficient in terms of
network traffic.

Finally, congrats on one of the best monitoring apps
I've seen!.

Cheers.
Adrian.

AFACT the freebsd port has a daemon that runs in the background for such a thing

I found a similar program for windows. I can't recall the name of it, but if you search download.com for system monitors or google.com with the phrase '"system monitors" +windows' you may find it. It took some time for me to locate one. The program I am thinking about isn't free however. It is shareware. It's an alright program but not grkellm.

[»] What a wonderful program!
by Whelkman - Apr 8th 2000 06:52:25

I'm surprised there have been no comments yet! I'm a fairly big dock app fan and was intrigued when I heard about this one. Well, I compiled it and: wow! This can replace about half of the dock apps you see around by itself, and, better yet, it's not window manager dependent! What's even better is that gkrellm supports a plugin interface, allowing vast expandability! gkrellm is very easy on the CPU and packs a lot of information into a little bit of space. Do yourself a favor and try this program!
