 BevelFree - Default branch
Section: Themes

Added: Sun, Aug 22nd 1999 16:39 UTC (9 years, 1 month ago) Updated: Wed, Mar 27th 2002 23:50 UTC (6 years, 6 months ago)

Screenshot About:
BevelFree is small (20k), fast and functional. It was created in order to get away from everything having a 3d look. It has no beveled borders, no gradients, and no shading. The iconbox is present and working, but doesn't really match the rest of the theme.

[»] GTK+ theme
by Alem Dain - Sep 17th 2005 15:09:12

I liked this theme so much I made a GTK+ theme to go with it... will be called BevelFreeGTK or something. Will post a link tomorrow. It's highly unfinished; somebody with any experience with GTK+ themes (i.e. more than I've got) would probably be able to improve on it. Menus don't really work and there are still a few things that are bevelled. It uses the pixmap engine for buttons and such.

Excellent idea. I've been thinking of doing something like this myself. I may not have to now. I'll say it again, excellent idea, you've done well with it. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice

I really love this theme. It is refreshing to see something both original, and light. I'm rather tired of these multi-megabyte themes that are all but impossible to actually use effectively. They are fun to show off, but that is about all. When it comes to functionality they are extremely lacking. You've got a fresh 'picassoesque' look that is also fast and usable. Good job.

[»] Cool Theme

I like the look of this, but there are some things that I would change like the window kill button and the iconify and maximize buttons. They seem a bit bland. Great theme, I can't wait to see your updates.

    Glad you think it's cool.

As for the buttons, I'll think about it. I thought it was a cool and new idea to make the max button tall and the icon button small and low on the title bar and I kinda like them, but I could think about jazzing them up a bit. StarEnli, for example, is a theme without a 3d bevel and the max and icon buttons are spelled out in words there, which is pretty cool.

    Thanks for encouragement.
