Screenshot About:
webCDwriter can be used to make the CD- and DVD-writer(s) connected to a Linux box available to all users in your network. It consists of the server CDWserver and the clients webCDcreator and rcdrecord. CDWserver stores the files transmitted by the clients, reserves the CD-writer and controls the CD-writer using cdrecord. webCDcreator is a Java applet that runs within your browser or by Java Web Start, assists you when putting together a CD, and transmits the files. Finally rcdrecord is a command line client that tries to offer the functionality of cdrecord over the network with full multi-user support.

[»] Fedora 8.
by AltGrendel - Jan 24th 2008 05:35:22

Won't work with Fedora 8. Not sure if it's a config issue or a package issue, but it tries to start and then just takes up CPU time. Debug set to 9 doesn't show any errors in the log file.

Another thought is that since this is Java based (I think), it may be the Fedora IceTea java package is the issue.

Not a java person, so I have no idea.

[»] Great product!
by Greg Goodrich - Aug 13th 2003 13:08:41

I work for an ISV, and we burn custom CDs for our clients. I've implemented a LAMP frontend that hits the CDWriter daemon backend to create the custom CDs. We also use the Java frontend to do more general burning around the office. We would have had to do a LOT more work to accomplish these tasks without the help of webCDWriter! It is a great product.

[»] Web CD Writer
by Patrick Gade - Jun 19th 2003 21:13:31

Excellent product. Our (non profit) organisation has been using it for nearly a year now. It lets all our staff create CDs without requiring CD writers or CD writing software on client machines.

We have had excellent feedback from users on using this service.

Thanks

by surkum - Apr 25th 2003 04:03:06

After more than 2 years of use, I could say this program is a "must have" to anyone with a (cd|dvd)writer even without a network.

keep on.

[»] RH 7.2 and MPG123
by Don Vanco - Dec 12th 2001 17:16:22

While I think it's great that you've written an RPM for RH 7.2, consider that RH has left MPG123 behind in favor of the more GPL compliant MPG321, and the RPM will not install without complaining.

Cheers -
Don

Great program ... the java interface is very
attractive and functional for burning cross platform
data CDs (locally and remotely) from iso image
files and from the mounted directories (local and
remote).

I prefer webCDwriter over xcdroast & others
now!!!
